Public Transit
Take the #4 or #17 bus from Granville Street downtown.
The trolley bus loop on campus is located in front
of War Memorial Gym, approximately a 3 minute walk
from The Gage Towers and West Coast Suites. There is
no direct bus service from the Airport, but the Airporter
Shuttle and public transit will take you downtown -
from there you can transfer.
A note from Sean (ASPT local Rep!)
For those staying
downtown, is that the #44 bus goes from downtown
to UBC on weekdays
and
is
an
express
bus
-- much much **MUCH** faster than the #4 or #17.
See attached schedule and route map from BC Translink.
The express bus leaves from/arrives at the MAIN
bus loop right beside Gage, not the War Memorial loop,
and so is just as convenient when you get on campus.
Downtown pick-up points are 'at all stops up to
an
including Burrard and Pacific' (see foot of attached
schedule and the attached route map).
It also costs just $3.75 (COINS ARE REQUIRED) to take the bus from
the airport to campus, useful for thrifty students
(or faculty):
At the airport walk to the public transit
pick-up point. Take the public bus (#424) (pay here
and keep the ticket to present on other buses) from
the airport to 'Airport station' and change there to
the '98 B-line' (an express bus) Northbound to downtown.
Get off at Granville St and Broadway Ave and catch
the '99 B-line' (another express bus) westbound to
UBC. At UBC get off at the main bus loop, and you are
right beside Gage residence!!
Getting to the airport
is just as straightforward. This is a very cheap way
to get to the airport, but the buses can be crowded
and you have to leave enough time for traffic (e.g.,
at rush hour).

One word of advice on taxis -- I would advise booking
a cab for return trip to the airport. The city doesn't
have enough cabs for rapid service at peak times (in
my opinion)... Very easy to miss a flight if you don't
build in enough time (even getting through by phone
to book a cab can take forever when they're busy).
The airport is deceptively close (~25 minutes by cab)
unless you factor this in.
